Daytona Beach, Florida

Daytona, located on Florida's East coast, has become particularly famous for the races at the Daytona International Speedway, the most famous race being the Daytona 500 NASCAR race. In addition to the Daytona 500, several sports car, motorcycle and Go-kart races take place on the speedway year-round.

Those who are not fortunate enough to get one of the coveted tickets for the NASCAR race can relive the race in the DAYTONA 500 EXPERIENCE (formerly DAYTONA USA), the “Official Attraction of NASCAR”.

The Daytona 500 Experience features behind-the-scenes insights as well as spectacular footage recorded from a car during the most recent Daytona 500 race. In addition, 30-minute guided Speedway bus tours are offered when no races are scheduled.

But what would Daytona be without Daytona Beach? Each year in March, Daytona Beach is a popular destination for spring breakers. Spring break originated as a student meet-up in the 1930s.

Two weeks prior to spring break, tens of thousands of motorcyclists gather at Daytona Beach to celebrate the so-called "Bike Week".

The most popular motorcycle event, however, the Daytona Beach "Biketoberfest", takes place in fall.

Daytona Beach is also home to one of the most unusual beach sections in Florida: Since the 1920s, drivers can pay a fee to drive their vehicles on a 21.7 mile (35 km) long stretch of hard-packed sand between February and November.
